In 1983, when our father took over the cacao farm from a family member, we had little enthusiasm for it. The trips to the plantation were long, hot and absolutely uncomfortable.
A visit through all the fields took what felt like hours and was very tiring for short children's legs.
The only consolation with each visit was to drink oodles of cocoa honey (sweet juice of the cocoa fruit) and to be spoiled with the home cooking on site.
we three brothers live in three different worlds. Gilberto moved to Germany for work over 20 years ago and now lives in Stuttgart. George has pitched his tents in the USA. He lives in sunny Tampa in Florida. And Ricardo has remained true to Brazil.
When our father passed away, we decided to take over the Fazenda in brotherly partnership. This connects us over thousands of kilometers.
